Mika Lagdameo on preparing her child for success

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – How do you prepare your child for success?

Mika Lagdameo-Martinez, model, entrepreneur and a mother of two shares how she develops her kids’ multiple intelligence so they could have the edge by being body smart, brain smart and people smart.

As a mom, Mika believes that ‘wisdom comes with age.’ Although she considers this as something that is true, she also believes that the learning experiences that people go through every day make a whole lot of difference, especially as a parent.

Knowing that experience is essential in learning, she engages her kids to activities and enrolls them in different classes as early as they are young.  But even she admits that all these are not enough.

“I think it is very important that you help them develop habits like sleeping early, eating healthy and getting very active in extra-curricular activities,” she says. These habits are important in developing your child’s multiple intelligence.

On becoming body smart - Urge your child to stay active outdoors. It breeds physical excellence.
On becoming brain smart - Encourage discovery by indulging your child’s curiosity.
On becoming people smart - Expose your child to activities that allow him to interact with others.

Lastly, you should always make your children feel how much you value their skills and abilities. The success of your children depends on the many doors that you open from them. The best formula in raising a healthy and happy kid is by giving him the love and support you could give.

“You know I’ve had my kids early, but I don’t regret it. I have learned to grow with them and learn with them and I think I am really privileged and blessed to be able to experience this with my kids.”

Like Mika Lagdameo-Martinez, let your children be the best that they can be by choosing to develop their multiple intelligence.
