Height limit for PNP test applicants removed

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has removed the height requirement for applicants who will take the entrance examination for policemen.

“Starting with the April 22, 2018 police examinations, there shall be no height requirement for the Philippine National Police entrance examination applicants as long as they are bachelor’s degree holders and not more than 30 years old,” the commission said in a statement yesterday.

Napolcom vice-chairman Rogelio Casurao said they modified the policy where the height of applicants is measured before they take the entrance exam.

Casurao said people can take the examinations but they should be ready to be disqualified in the event they don’t meet the height requirements later.

Previously, aspirants are measured twice, once before the examination and another after the applicant passed the test.

The height requirements are 5 feet 4 inches for policemen and 5 feet 2 inches for policewomen.

Casurao said there were instances when applicants are measured inaccurately, meaning they passed the height requirements before taking the test, only to be disqualified later during the second measurement.

“The measurement of the height will take place after the examination,” Casurao said. “Some are taking the exams for experience.”

The fees are P400 for the PNP entrance and police officer examination, P450 for senior police officer test, P500 for police inspector test and P600 for police superintendent examination.
