Rain in Visayas, other areas as 'Agaton' crosses Bohol Sea

MANILA, Philippines — (Updated 8:26 a.m.) Tropical Depression Agaton has accelerated slightly and was traversing the Bohol Sea early Tuesday morning.
According to a Pagasa press briefing at 8 a.m., Agaton was 35 kilometers north of Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph with strength unchanged since an earlier bulletin at 5 a.m. when it was 95 km east of Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
It is expected to bring widespead moderate to heavy rains over the Visayas, Misamis Occidental, Dipolog City, Northern Zamboanga del Norte and Palawan in the next 24 hours.
'Agaton' is forecast to move west at 25 kph and is expected to be 50 km east southeast of Puerto Princesa in Palawan by Wednesday morning.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised over the following areas:
- Palawan (including Cuyo Island)
- Southern Leyte
- Bohol
- Cebu
- Siquijor
- Guimaras
- Negros Oriental
- Negros Occidental
- Southern Antique
- Southern Iloilo
