'Urduja' makes landfall over Aklan

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Urduja (international name: Kai-Tak) has made landfall over Malay, Aklan, the 8 p.m. severe weather bulletin of PAGASA said.
 
"At 7:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "URDUJA" was estimated based on all available data at In the vicinity of Buruanga, Aklan (11.8 °N, 121.9 °E)," it said.
 
"Urduja" was forecast to move west-southwest at 15 kph. It packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
 
It is forecast to be 145 km north of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan by Monday afternoon and 295 km south-southwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan outside the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday afternoon.
 
 
PAGASA said scattered to at times widespread rains would continue over Mindoro provinces and Northern Palawan including Cuyo and Calamian Group of Islands and is expected to prevail over the rest of Palawan. 
 
Residents of these areas must undertake appropriate measures against flooding and landslides and coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices, it added. 
 
Sea travel is also not advised over the seaboards of areas under a tropical cyclone warning signal. Placed under Signal No. 1 were the southern part of Mindoro provinces, Romblon, Palawan, Aklan and Northern Antique.
 
Meanwhile, another tropical depression outside the PAR was estimated to be located at 1,925 km east of Mindanao. It packs maximum sustained winds of 40 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 50 kph.
