Miss Universe, UAAP, Marawi, ASEAN among Twitter Philippines' top 2017 moments
MANILA, Philippines — Twitter Philippines announced the biggest moments that dominated the social media site this year in its #ThisHappened 2017.
ABS-CBN’s Push Awards topped the list of the most tweeted moments in 2017 in the country. Push Awards held last October recognized the biggest Kapamilya Digital Stars this year and fans were able to vote their idols via Twitter.
Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards followed Push Awards on the list. Actress-singer Nadine Lustre was named the Favorite Pinoy Star last March at the KCA.
Coincidentally, hashtags #KCAPinoyStar and #NadineLustre were determined as the most tweeted hashtags in the Philippines this year.
Hashtag was originally designed to ‘tag’ or categorize Tweets, but over the years, it has become a tool to discover various topics that one may be passionate about.

Meanwhile, four key events in the country also made it on the list of 10 biggest moments of Twitter Philippines in 2017. These are Miss Universe, UAAP Season 80, the Marawi conflict and the Association of the South East Asian Nations Summit.
Two Miss Universe coronation nights were staged this year. The first one was hosted by the Philippines last January and the most recent one, where South Africa’s Demi–Leigh Nel-Peters became the title holder, was held last week.
The 65th Miss Universe was held at the Mall of Asia Arena and France’s Iris Mittenaere brought home the crown.
As we (almost) bid farewell to an exciting year, today we're taking a look back at the biggest moments, hashtags, and accounts/people that got Filipinos talking in 2017.
