Romualdez presents credentials to Trump
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel "Babe" Romualdez had presented his credentials to US President Donald Trump at the White House as part of the diplomatic protocol.
In its official Twitter account, the Philippine Embassy in the US posted a photo of Romualdez and Trump during their meeting on November 29.
Romualdez served as special envoy to the US before accepting Malacañang's nomination as ambassador to Washington.
He will also have jurisdiction over Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and Grenadines and Saint Lucia.
Foreign ambassadors and ministers may not represent their governments until their credentials have been presented in person to the host government's foreign ministry and head of state.
The documents presented to the head of state of the host government identifies diplomats as representatives of their governments.

Trump, in his meeting with Romualdez, has reiterated his support for Duterte and the Philippines, according to a report from News5.
Trump and Duterte last met in Manila during the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings. The two leaders held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit.
