Comelec urges new registrants to apply online

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday urged new registrants to do so online to avoid long queues in registration centers.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said those who would register for next year’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections may download the application forms online.

The registrants have the option to download the blank form, print it on a long bond paper and manually fill out the form or electronically fill it out and print three copies.

Jimenez reminded applicants not to sign the application form online and let the election officers check the form first in case there are corrections to be made.

“The law says the forms have to be signed in the presence of the election officers,” he said.

Application forms for registration, reactivation, change/correction of entries and inclusion/reinstatement of records in the list of voters can be downloaded at www.comelec.gov.ph.
