Rody visits parents’ tombs, warns vs drug use
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Stay away from drugs.
This was what President Duterte told hundreds of Davaoeños who waited for him to visit the tombs of his parents here at past midnight yesterday.
Duterte stayed for at least an hour at the Wireless Public Cemetery and talked with the residents. He talked to them about the evils of illegal drugs.
Security was tightened when the President, along with his son Sebastian, visited the tombs of his parents, the late Gov. Vicente Duterte and his wife Soledad.
The Presidential Security Group and the Philippine National Police as well as the local security agencies made sure security measures were in place for the President’s visit.
Before he became President, Duterte would go to the tombs anytime he wanted and never missed lighting candles and offering flowers at the graves on All Souls’ and Saints’ Days.
He was also known to visit his late parents’ graves in times of distress or before making a major decision.
