MANILA, Philippines — It will be a rainy All Saints’ Day in some parts of the country, including Metro Manila, as a result of a low-pressure area and the tail-end of a cold front.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophy- sical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area would bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the Visayas, Bicol and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) region.

The low-pressure area was spotted 60 kilometers south-southwest of Masbate City as of 3 p.m. yesterday.

The tail-end of the cold front, meanwhile, will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Aurora province and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon).

PAGASA weather forecaster Gener Quitlong warned residents of these areas against possible flashfloods and landslides as the ground is already saturated due to days of heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will also experience cloudy skies with light rains.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon season, associated with cold weather, has begun.

“The northeast wind flow is expected to further intensify and become dominant over most parts of the country, bringing cold and dry air. Surges of cold temperatures may also be expected,” PAGASA said.

The northeast monsoon normally peaks in the months of January and February.
