MANILA, Philippines — Preparations are being undertaken by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for Tropical Storm Paolo and the low pressure area monitored by the state weather bureau.

The council convened on Tuesday morning with members of the PAG-ASA and several government agencies for an emergency response preparedness meeting, in anticipation of the twin weather systems that are forcasted to bring moderate to heavy rains in the country.

PAGASA reported that tropical storm Paolo, international name "Lan" has entered Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday, 11 p.m.

Storm Paolo is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall within the Eastern Visayas region, and is forecasted to intensify into a typhoon within the next 24 to 48 hours.

PAG-ASA said that Storm Paolo, however, is less likely to make landfall and is expected to leave PAR on Sunday. The agency has also not issued a tropical cyclone warning signal for TS Paolo.

The state weather bureau is also monitoring a low pressure area located 165 West of Coron Palawan that may develop into a tropical depression by Thursday. The LPA is expected to cross Visayas.

The NDRRMC said that two weather systems may enhance Northeast Monsson which "may generate moderate to rouch seas over the seaboard of Northern Luzon."

Regional and local councils were also advised to take necessary precautions. The DILG, for its part, directed the LGUs to prepare in their respective Area of Responsibility following the Operation Listo protocols.

The DSWD has also ensured that its field and central offices are ready to field food and non-food items in preparation of the storm.
