Faeldon refuses to attend Senate shabu shipment probe anew

MANILA, Philippines — Resigned Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon continued to snob the Senate blue ribbon committee probe into the P6.4-billion shabu shipment from China.
Senate blue ribbon chair Richard “Dick” Gordon said he instructed the sergeant-at-arms to invite Faeldon. Faeldon has been cited in contempt for refusing to attend the probe.
"Captain Faeldon will not appear. He has been told and he will not appear,” Gordon said.
“I would like to put it on record that the committee tried to stretch out and try to make him appear but he insist that he will not appear," he added.
Two weeks ago, Faeldon voluntarily put himself in Senate custody. He chose to be detained at the Senate after repeated refusal to testify before the blue ribbon committee.
Faeldon told Gordon that he feels the Senate body would be impartial once he attends the inquiry in the presence of Sens. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV and Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
Trillanes earlier alleged Faeldon is at the heart of the BOC controversy while Lacson claimed the former Customs chief may have received a P100-million "welcome gift" at the bureau.
Gordon said Faeldon is indefinitely detained at the Senate.
The blue ribbon committee is conducting an inquiry into the drug shipment hat slipped through the Bureau of Customs under Faeldon's leadership.
