MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Maring is now within the vicinity of Pampanga and is about to leave the landmass of Luzon tonight, according to the state weather bureau, as it continues to spawn downpour which flooded streets and led to the cancellation of classes and work in government offices.
In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said Maring continues to pack maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 100 kph as Tropical Storm Signal No. 1 continues to be hoisted in many provinces on the Philippine island of Luzon, including Metro Manila.
Tropical Storm Signal No. 1 is up in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Northern Quezon including Polilio Island, Southern Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan and Pangasinan.
These areas can expect light damage to low-risk structures and light to moderate damage to high-risk structures, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
"At 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression 'Maring' was estimated based on all available data including Subic doppler data radar in the vicinity or Bacolor, Pampanga," PAGASA said.
The storm is forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph. In 24 hours, it is expected to be 280 km west northwest of Iba, Zambales.
PAGASA said that moderate to heavy rains will be experienced in Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan and Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains during thunderstorms is expected over Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.
PAGASA warned against sea travel over the seaboards of Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mindoro.
