PAO: Reynaldo de Guzman died on 3rd stab

"Bakit kailangang padamihin ang tama? So 'yung intention ng gumawa n'yan, may kagagawan n'yan, meron gustong palitawin," Public Attorney's Office Persida Rueda-Acosta said. Senate PRIB

MANILA, Philippines — Reynaldo de Guzman, 14, suffered three fatal stab wounds to his heart and lungs which caused his death, according to the forensic laboratory of the Public Attorney's Office.

The body of De Guzman, a resident of Cainta, Rizal, was recovered on Wednesday at a funeral parlor in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija.

His body was earlier discovered floating in the Kinamatayang Kabayo creek with almost 30 stab wounds, his face covered with packaging tape and cloth.

Dr. Erwin Erfe, chief of the PAO forensic laboratory services, said the second and third stab possibly caused the death of the teenager.

"Kaya po noong mga sumunod na pagsaksak sa kanya wala na pong tissue reaction pero kung mapapansin ninyo 'yung mga litrato, puting-puti po 'yung mga stab wounds. Puting-puti at saka hindi po namaga, ibig sabihin po noon patay na po siya," Erfe told reporters, based on a video posted by radio dzBB.

Erfe added that three episodes could be seen leading to the death of De Guzman—he was beaten, stabbed two or three times, and then repeatedly stabbed even though he was already dead.

"Mukhang gigil na gigil ang gumawa nito. Mukhang mabibilis iyong ibang saksak kasi magkakadikit," Erfe said.

PAO chief Persida Ruales-Acosta said that the killer of De Guzman had an intention for repeatedly stabbing the teenager and throwing his body into the creek.

"Bakit kailangang paramihin eh tatlong saksak lang patay na, halos hindi gumagalaw. Bakit kailangang padamihin ang tama?" Acosta said.

According to Acosta, the killer might have intended to let De Guzman's body be carried away into the sea so as not to be discovered by his family.

De Guzman was the last known companion of 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz, who went missing for 10 days before being discovered at a morgue in Caloocan City.

On August 17, Arnaiz and De Guzman left their homes in Cainta, Rizal to buy midnight snacks. Both teenagers went missing for days before being discovered dead.

Arnaiz reportedly died in a shootout with members of the Caloocan police when he allegedly robbed a taxi driver along C-3 Road. The Department of Justice has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to look for the driver, Tomas Bagcal, who is now missing.
