'Gorio' to enhance habagat, bring rains

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED 11:24 a.m.) — Tropical Storm Gorio (international name Noru) will not directly affect the country but will enhance the southwest monsoon which will bring rains over Luzon and Western Visayas.

State weather bureau PAGASA said that the tropical storm will not make landfall in the country.
Public storm warning signal no. 1 may be raised in extreme northern Luzon, particularly in Batanes, as the cyclone moves outside the country and toward Taiwan.
The weather disturbance is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Monday evening.

PAGASA warned that monsoon rains may trigger flash floods and landslides in Metro Manila and the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and the provinces of Mindoro and Palawan.
Meanwhile, Visayas and the regions of Cagayan Valley, Bicol and the provinces of Marinduque and Romblon will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains.
"Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail over Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough," PAGASA said.
