BAGUIO CITY, Philippines —  Lawsuits await three Court of Appeals justices who issued release orders to six Ilocos Norte provincial executives being held at the House of Representatives in connection to the P66-million Tobacco Excise tax misuse, Ilocos Norte lawmaker Rodolfo Fariñas said.

The House of Representatives, Fariñas said over a local radio station, will file charges against Special Fourth Division Associate Justices Stephen Cruz, Edwin Sorongon and  Nina Antonino-Valenzuela for favoring the detained provincial executives.

Even tagging the three CA magistrates as “ignorant” for ruling in favor for the officials' release from continued detention since May 29, Fariñas reiterated that the House of Representatives has powers to detain the six after they were held in contempt for refusing to answer the legislators’ questions during the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability hearing.

Earlier, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez even warned to abolish the CA for favoring the Ilocos Norte executives.

Fariñas  also bared that the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability will be issuing a subpoena against Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos if the latter still refuses to face the committee in its investigation.

The House committee had approved a motion by Deputy House of Rep. Minority Leader Eugene de Vera to subpoena Marcos to appear before them to shed light on the fund misuse on its next hearing on July 25.
