SC resets pre-trial of Marcos poll protest
MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court on Tuesday confirmed the resetting of the preliminary conference of the electoral protest of defeated vice presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
The high tribunal, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, scheduled the preliminary conference of Marcos' protest against Vice President Leni Robredo on July 11.
The preliminary conference of Marcos' protest before the PET was originally scheduled on June 21. The hearing would allow both parties to narrow down the conflict for a speedier disposition of the case.
The tribunal earlier ordered Marcos to deposit P66 million for the 132,446 precincts included in his protest.
Robredo was ordered to raise P15 million for the 31,278 precincts included in her counter-protest against Marcos.
The PET has denied the counter-protest of Robredo to dismiss the protest of Marcos. The tribunal ruled that the electoral protest is sufficient for the case to proceed. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
