Cebu City grads dominate CPA board exam

MANILA, Philippines— University of San Carlos in Cebu (USC) again emerged dominant as two of its alumni topped the May 2017 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure Examination.

Vianca Pearl Inot Amores and Marianito Berdin Del Rio, both honor students from USC, share the top spot of the May 2017 CPA Licensure Exam with a score of 92.67 percent . The two were reportedly second-degree cousins.

Amores graduated summa cum laude while Del Rio graduated magna cum laude.

Aside from Amores and Del Rio, four other USC graduates also made it to the top ten of the May 2017 CPA Licensure Exam. USC alumna Jessa Comar Bermudo ranked third with a score of 92.50 percent.

Last May, USC alumna Karen Mae Calam also topped the 2016 Bar Examinations.

Below appears the list of the topnotchers in the CPA board exam, which was dominated by Cebu graduates. University of San Jose-Recoletos is also in Cebu.

A total of 3,389 out of 9,645 accountancy graduates who took the examination passed the CPA board exam.

The full list of top notchers and the complete results of the CPA board exam was released online by the Professional Regulation Commision and the Board of Accountancy five days after the exam. The examination was held in the cities of of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Legazpi last May 14 to 15, 21 and 22.

PRC said USC also emerged as the top performing school with 94.29 exam-takers percentage passed.
