SWS: Duterte retains 'very good' satisfaction ratings

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte's net satisfaction rating remains the same after nine months in office, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey conducted from March 25 to 28 showed that 75 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the performance of the president while 12 percent were dissatisfied, giving him a net satisfaction rating of +63 for the first quarter of 2017.

This is a one-point drop from Duterte's +64 rating in December 2016. The president's current net satisfaction rating remains in the "very good" classification of the survey firm.

Highest scores in Mindanao and NCR

Duterte obtained the highest net satisfaction rating in Mindanao with +87 while he scored +64 in the National Capital Region, +51 in balance Luzon and +62 in Visayas.

Among social classes, Duterte scored the highest in Class D with +64 while he scored the lowest in Class ABC with +56. He obtained a net satisfaction rating of +60 in Class E.

Duterte scored slightly highest among males with +65 while he obtained a rating of +61 among women.

Among age groups, Duterte obtained the highest rating in the 25 to 34 group with +71 while he scored the lowest among the 18 to 24 and 35 to 44 group, both with +59. On the other hand, he scored +64 in the 45 to 54 age group and +61 in the 55 and above age range.

The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews among 1,200 adults nationwide, 300 each in balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao. Sampling error margins were at ±3 percent for national percentages and ±6 percent for regional ratings.

The respondents were asked the following question: "Please tell me how satisfied or dissatisfied you are in the performance of Rodrigo Duterte as President of the Philippines. Are you very satisfied, somewhat satisfied, undecided if satisfied or dissatisfied, somewhat dissatisfied, very dissatisfied, or you have not ever heard or read anything about Rodrigo Duterte?"
