Military offensive vs NPA rebels tuloy

MANILA, Philippines - Tuloy ang opensiba ng tropa ng militar laban sa mga rebeldeng New People’s Army (NPA) sa mga balwarte nitong teritoryo sa bansa.

Ito’y sa kabila ng malapit nang mapagtibay ang Interim Joint Ceasefire Agreement sa pagitan ng GRP at CPP-NPA-NDF peace panel sa isinasagawang ika-apat na rounds ng ceasefire sa The Netherlands.

Ayon kay AFP -Public Affairs Office (AFP- PAO) Chief Col. Edgard Arevalo  hanggang walang deklarasyon ang pamahalaan sa tigil-putukan sa hanay ng NPA rebels ay tuloy ang kanilang opensiba.

“While we give primacy to the peace process, we have to continue with our focused, deliberate, and surgical combat, intelligence and Civil-Military operations for the meantime”, pahayag ni Arevalo.

Binigyang diin ni Arevalo na bilang mga sundalo ay may mandato silang protektahan  ang mamamayan at komunidad laban sa pag-atake ng mga rebeldeng komunista na naghahasik ng tero­rismo partikular na sa mga kanayunan.

“We will pursue our mandate as protector of the people and the state by defeating any armed groups of any affiliation to uphold the law, maintain peace in the communities, and protect the lives of our people”, ani Arevalo.

“We are hopeful that the negotiators from both sides will soon be able to finalize and approve the guidelines and ground rules that will ultimately lead to the declaration of ceasefire”, ang sabi pa ng opisyal.
