MANILA, Philippines -  The Philippine National Police (PNP) held an earthquake drill at Camp Crame in Quezon City yesterday in support of the nationwide 1st Quarter National Earthquake Drill.

Police officers and non-uniformed PNP personnel went out ot their respective offices at around 7 a.m. for the drill.

To make the earthquake drill more realistic, 10 mock victims were carried by rescue teams on stretchers following a simulated tremor.

Chief Superintendent Erickson Velasquez, deputy director of the PNP Directorate for Community Relations, said the drill was successful as it showed their readiness should an earthquake hit Metro Manila.

Velasquez urged the public to participate in earthquake drills to be conducted by the government.

The Quezon City Police District also held an earthquake drill at Camp Karingal.

Officials and employees of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines also participated in an earthquake drill at the CAAP compound in Pasay City yesterday.

The drills were conducted in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and Business Continuity Management Group.
