St. Francis seeks UCLAA final vs EAC
MANILA, Philippines - Saint Francis of Assisi College guns for the first finals berth in the juniors division of the National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCRUCLAA) basketball tournament as it tries to score a repeat against Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite in their knockout match tomorrow at the Colegio de San Lorenzo gym in Quezon City.
Drawing big games from Jom Gay, Jomar Ignacio, Michael David and Carlos Ysmael, St. Francis stunned twice-to-beat EAC, 77-72, last week.
But for the Baby Doves to advance to the finals, coach Christopher Villamayor said they have to shoot consistently from the outside and come out with a better defensive transition.
“We have to double our effort if we are to play in the championship,” said Villamayor, who is being assisted by former national team member Al Vergara.
Villamayor also stressed the need to check EAC’s imposing one-on-one penetration and post scoring.
“Our adjustments will be minor but we have to be extra careful in executing our offense,” added Villamayor, who is also pinning his hopes on Jim Santos.
