Municipal doctor shot dead

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Police are investigating the motive for the killing of a doctor in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte on Wednesday night.

Dreyfuss Perlas, municipal health officer of Sapad town, was driving his motorcycle on his way to his residence in Barangay Maranding when two men on another fired at him.

Scene of the crime operatives recovered a bullet shell for a caliber .45 pistol at the scene.

Probers are looking into reports that prior to the attack, Perlas had an altercation with the relative of a patient at the Bontilao Country Hospital.

Senior Superintendent Faro Antonio Olaguera, Lanao del Norte police chief, said the municipal government plans to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest of the assailants.
