Drug suspect shot dead; P1.4-M marijuana seized
MANILA, Philippines - Another drug suspect was killed in Bulacan on Wednesday.
Armando Serrano, 27, a resident of Barangay Garlan in San Ildefonso town, was driving his motorcycle on his way home when unidentified men shot him several times.
The gunmen fled toward San Miguel.
Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, said the fatality was recently freed on bail for motorbike theft and illegal drugs.
In Surigao del Sur, police seized 19. 2 kilos of marijuana leaves with an estimated value of P1.4 million. The drugs were found inside a blue drum that washed ashore in Barangay Buenavista in Tandag City.
Police Officer 2 Herman Abao of the Surigao police office said two fishermen found the drum on their way to the fish port.
Meanwhile, the number of barangays cleared of illegal drugs in Negros Occidental rose to 84 with four in Murcia town added to the list.
Senior Superintendent William Señoron, Negros Occidental police director, said 502 of the 601 barangays in the province are affected by illegal drugs.
