CITF gets 2,000complaints vs cops
MANILA, Philippines - The Counter-Intelligence Task Force has received around 2,000 text messages and calls from the public complaining about police officers supposedly involved in illegal activities, an official said Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent Jose Chiquito Malayo, CITF chief, said the complaints were actionable.
He said some of the complaints involved “star rank” police officers reportedly involved in illegal gambling and illegal drugs.
“This information will have to be validated,” he said.
Under the Philippine National Police (PNP) set up, someone who holds star rank is equivalent to a general in the military.
Malayo said the CITF can file administrative and criminal cases against the police officers found involved in illegal activities.
President Duterte said at least 40 percent of the members of the PNP is involved in illegal activities as he ordered an intensified internal cleansing of the police force.
