UNTV KO matches tomorrow

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Top seed Bureau of Customs and No. 2 Judiciary try to recover lost grounds and seal a title showdown as they tangle with Malacañang and Philippine National Police, respectively, tomorrow in the fifth UNTV Cup playoff at the Pasig City Sports Center.

The BOC Transformers take on the Malacañang Kamao at 5 p.m. with the former out to rebound from their 88-99 loss while the Judiciary Magi also seek to bounce back from their 67-92 setback to the PNP Responders in their 3 p.m. duel.

Customs’ playing coach Kenneth Duremdes hopes to atone for his mediocre 10-point output the first time out while fighting off early foul woes as he seeks to lead the Transformers to the final round.

Customs will also try to clamp down on Eric dela Cuesta, who exploded for 33 points while drawing solid backups from Christian Luanzon and Visnu Das Javier, who produced 22 points each.

The chosen charity of the winning team will get the P4 million prize donated by UNTV with the runner-up, third and fourth placers getting P2 million, P1 million and P500,000, respectively.

The Magi, meanwhile, hope to draw the best from Chester Tolomia, Don Camaso and Ariel Capus, who struggled against the Responders’ stifling defense last week.
