MANILA, Philippines - Many areas in the eastern seaboard are seen to have a rainy weekend due to Tropical Depression Bising, the state weather bureau announced yesterday.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, Bising was spotted at 735 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Bising was packing winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

It is forecast to move west-northwest at a speed of 13 kph.

PAGASA senior weather forecaster Rene Paciente said the weather disturbance is expected to bring light to moderate rains over eastern Mindanao and light rains over the eastern portions of Luzon and the Visayas.

Paciente said Bising has a slim chance of crossing landmass.

“It will not make landfall based on our current forecast,” he said.

Paciente said the rest of Luzon would continue to experience light rains from the northeast monsoon this weekend.

PAGASA said the coastal waters of Luzon would be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate seas.
