MANILA, Philippines –  The Philippine National Police has seized hundreds of thousands of sachets of marijuana and shabu since the Duterte administration began its war on drugs.

In a span of six months, the authorities netted a total of over P3.7 billion worth of illegal drugs in 18 regions of the country.

Statistics from the PNP National Anti-Illegal Drug Monitoring Center (NAIDMC) showed that around 95,000 sachets of shabu and 113,000 sachets of marijuana were recovered from July 1, 2016 to Jan. 12, 2017.

The National Capital Region Police Office had the most number of shabu sachets seized with 8,581 while Police Regional Office 3 tallied 111,350 marijuana sachets.

NAIMDC clarified, however, that the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group have separate reports of seized illegal drugs.

After the first phase of Oplan Tokhang, the PNP is continuing its efforts against illegal drugs and is now focused on the arrest and account of high-value target personalities through Oplan Double Barrel Alpha.
