Mayon Volcano like Miss Universe – Rody
MANILA, Philippines - Look at the curves. They can pass for Miss Universe.
President Duterte used these words to express his admiration for Mayon Volcano during groundbreaking rites for the New Bicol International Airport Terminal in Albay yesterday.
The President said the Bicol region is very lucky to have what he described as a “priceless jewel.”
“I want all investors to come in. Bicolandia is very lucky. You have the priceless jewel of the country and that is Mount Mayon. What I have is just the highest,” Duterte said, referring to Mt. Apo in Davao, the highest mountain in the country.
“Look at the curves. Just like those of a woman. No, no, no, it’s not sexist. If you’re talking of a woman’s curves, it’s really perfect. Pang-Miss Universe,” the President added.
Duterte led the groundbreaking ceremony of the P5-billion Bicol International Airport, a facility seen to boost tourism in the region.
“I am happy that we are laying the ground for your airport,” the President said.
“I’d like to say that historically the Bicol region has always been at the lower end of the governance all throughout, especially infrastructure and the roads and bridges. In my time, hopefully, in the fullness of God’s time, maybe I can get a railroad for you,” he added.
Duterte assured the public that there would be no corruption in the construction of the airport, which was conceptualized during the time of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“The airport will be finished in two to three years and it will be completed on time without corruption,” the President said.
“For those who want to stop the corruption, now is your time because I will back you up. If you want to expose anything, do not be afraid,” he added.
