‘Three-peat’ bid ni Curry sa MVP posibleng madiskaril kay Durant
GOLDEN STATE -- Ang pagpasok ni Kevin Durant sa Warriors ang didiskaril sa hangad na ‘three-peat’ ni Stephen Curry para sa NBA MVP trophy.
Kaya naman hindi si Curry ang inaasahan ni Golden State coach Steve Kerr na maaaring umangkin sa top individual honors para sa darating na NBA season.
Sinabi ni Kerr na lalaban pa rin sina Curry at Durant para sa MVP award ng 2016-2017 NBA season kasama si perennial contender LeBron James ng NBA champions na Cleveland Cavaliers.
Ngunit nagbigay ang Warriors’ coach ng isang analogy gamit ang US Presidential elections sa pagpili niya ng kanyang MVP winner.
Ang tinukoy niya ay si Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard.
“I think KD is kinda like Gary Johnson, a third party guy who is going to come in and take a few votes from Steph, takes some from LeBron, and then Damian Lillard wins the election. That’s my forecast,” wika ni Kerr.
Target din ni Lillard ang MVP award.
“MVP. I want to be the MVP. I think if we come out and do the things that we’re capable of doing as a team and we win games, I think that means that my performance will be at a level of the MVP,” sabi ni Lillard.
Hindi nakasama ang Blazers guard sa top 6 ng MVP contenders sa GM survey.
Kinuha ni James ang top spot mula sa 46.7 percent ng mga boto kasunod sina Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook, James Harden ng Houston Rockets kasosyo si Curry sa third spot, Durant at Paul George ng Indiana.
