MANILA, Philippines - Papagitna ang world-class volleyball sa pagsisi-mula ng FIVB Women’s Club World Championship na inihahandog ng PLDT ngayon sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.

Tututukan ang kampanya ng PSL-F2 Logistics Manila na haharap sa South American champion Rexona-Sesc Rio sa huling laro sa alas-6:30 ng gabi sa torneong inorganisa ng Philippine Superliga at Eventcourt katuwang ang TV5, Petron, Asics, BMW at F2 Logistics bilang sponsors, Diamond Hotel bilang official residence at Turkish Airlines bilang official airlines.

Ang PSL-F2 Logistics Manila team ay binubuo nina Rachel Ann Daquis, Mika Reyes, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Jen Reyes, Kim Fajardo, Frances Molina at Jaja Santiago katulong sina Americans Stephanie Niemer at Lindsay Stalzer, Puerto Rican Lynda Morales, Ukrainian Yevgeniya Nyukhalova, Russian Ekaterina Krivets, Thai Tichaya Boonlert at Japanese Yuri Fukuda.

Ang tropa ay hahawakan ni Serbian head coach Moro Branislav.

“Yes, there is pressure. We’re playing against the best players in the world,” wika kahapon ni Daquis. “But we’re really excited to play against them. This will be a great experience for us and we will use it for future games.”

Inaasahang tatalunin ng Rexona-Sesc ang PSL-F2 Logistics Manila base sa kanilang line-up.

“I have a libero who is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in Fabi,” wika ni coach Rezende. “But this is a very tough competition. Our chances may not be that high, but we will try our best.”

Sa unang laro sa alas-10 ng umaga ay lalabanan ni Olympic gold medalist Zhu Ting at ng VakifBank Istanbul ang Hisamitsu Springs Kobe kasunod ang paghaharap ng Volero Zurich at Asian titlist Bangkok Glass sa ala-1 ng hapon sa torneong suportado ng Mikasa, Gerflor at Jinling bilang technical sponsors.

Sa alas-4:30 ng hapon ay makakasukatan ng reigning champion Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul ang European superpower Pomi Casalmaggiore bago ang opening ceremony na pamumunuan nina International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) honorary president Wei Jizhong, Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) secretary general Shanrit Wongprasert, FIVB executive council member Stav Jacobi at Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. president Joey Romasanta at vice-president Peter Cayco.
