Rody wants Pampanga shabu lab turned into rehab center
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – President Duterte has ordered the seizure of a property in Arayat, Pampanga where police discovered a shabu laboratory four days ago, and the immediate disposal of all the equipment unless found to be useful for industrial purposes.
In a statement, Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino said the property will be converted into a rehabilitation center for drug users to be funded by the government.
Aquino and Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa accompanied Duterte on Tuesday afternoon to Barangay Laquios in Arayat town to inspect the shabu laboratory that has the capacity to produce 400 kilos of shabu per day.
Speaking to reporters, Duterte said he will provide between P25 million to P50 million to transform the shabu laboratory into a rehabilitation center for drug addicts.
The rehabilitation center will have separate quarters for men and women, he added.
Duterte said the facility was reportedly built during the elections but operators abandoned it after he won the elections and the crackdown against illegal drugs started nationwide.
The shabu laboratory may be connected to the network of illegal drug syndicates at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, he added.
