Monsoon brings rain to Luzon
MANILA, Philippines – The southwest monsoon being enhanced by two low-pressure areas off Batanes will continue to bring rains over parts of Luzon today, the state weather bureau said yesterday.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the LPAs were spotted at 340 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes and 945 km east of Itbayat, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.
The LPAs may intensify into tropical cyclones in the coming days but are unlikely to hit the Philippine landmass, the weather bureau said.
