Bato: Burn, bomb houses of cops’ attackers

The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – Burn their houses. Or throw grenades at them.

An irate Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronaldo dela Rosa on Tuesday warned those behind the attacks on two police stations in Cotabato City that he would bomb their houses.

“If they could identify the culprits, perhaps I will order someone to throw grenades at their houses,” he said.

Unidentified men threw a smoke grenade near the main police precinct in downtown Cotabato City last week.

The incident was followed by an attempt to bomb another police station at the Rosary Heights District in Cotabato City last Monday.

A still unidentified man lobbed a grenade at the roof of the police station but it did not explode.

Dela Rosa visited the regional police headquarters of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in Camp S.K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao on Tuesday.

Investigators told Dela Rosa that a criminal syndicate could be behind the attacks. They said they are now trying to establish the motive and identities of the attackers.

Dela Rosa briefed the regional policemen on the PNP campaign against illegal drugs.

He warned he would never tolerate any policeman involved in the narcotics trade.
