DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Former president Ferdinand Marcos is set to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

President Duterte made the announcement at dawn yesterday before reporters at the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao multi-purpose gym inside the Armed Forces Eastern Mindanao Command.

“I will allow the burial of (Marcos) in the Libingan because he was a president and a soldier,” he said.

“That is why he is qualified to be buried there.”

Duterte said that other Filipinos can hold rallies if they do not agree with Marcos’ burial in the heroes’ cemetery.

“I can grant you permit for one month, you can protest all you want, just name the place, Luneta or Quiapo or wherever you want,” he said.

“But just make sure you will be answerable for the traffic that would take place because of your protest action. You can demonstrate all you want. Go ahead.”

He promised the people of Ilocos provinces that Marcos’ remains will finally be laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Duterte said.
