No extension of voter registration for barangay, SK polls
MANILA, Philippines – The deadline for voter registration for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and barangay elections will not be extended, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday.
Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista said they do not intend to extend the July 30 deadline, as it would affect their preparations for the synchronized elections, particularly the Project of Precincts.
In POP, the Comelec will identify which voters or Board of Election Inspectors are assigned to particular polling precincts.
“We still have a few days left and we hope they will not wait for the last minute before registering at their local Comelec offices. There will be no extension,” Bautista said.
He advised voters not to wait for the deadline in order to avoid inconvenience brought by long lines.
Records showed that from July 15 to 23, there were at least 1.1 million who registered.
