LPA to bring rains over Luzon
MANILA, Philippines – A low-pressure area (LPA) off Baguio City is expected to bring rains over parts of Luzon in the next two days, the state weather bureau said yesterday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), however, said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the LPA was located at 40 kilometers northeast of Baguio City.
Pagasa said Northern and Central Luzon, as well as Metro Manila, would have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, for President Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, PAGASA said Metro Manila would have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light to moderate rains.
It said light to moderate rains, especially in the afternoon, are also expected in Duterte’s home province of Davao.
Duterte will deliver his first SONA at 3 p.m. at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
The local government of Quezon City has suspended classes today in all levels, both public and private, because of the President’s SONA.
