LPA spotted off Aurora

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area entered the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday, but state weather forecasters said it is still too far to affect any part of the country.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area was located at 1,035 km east of Casiguran, Aurora.

“While this weather disturbance is still too far to affect any part of the country, the general public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are advised to monitor for the next update,” it added.

The weather bureau said the weather system has a slim chance of developing into a cyclone.

Even with the low-pressure area not affecting the country’s weather, thunderstorms were still recorded in some areas due to the southwest monsoon.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the whole country,” said PAGASA.

“Light to moderate winds blowing from the south to southwest will prevail over northern Luzon and coming from the southeast to south over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be with slight to moderate,” it added.
