Marcos camp to file protest before PET tomorrow
MANILA, Philippines – The camp of outgoing Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will file tomorrow an election protest before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) against vice president-elect Leni Robredo before the June 29 deadline filing of such action.
Abakada party-list Rep. Jonathan de la Cruz, Marcos’ political adviser, told The STAR they have gathered enough evidence to seek a recount or set aside questionable results in at least 30 areas.
“We are expecting the PET to resolve our protest in six months,” he said.
De la Cruz said they would also ask the tribunal to compel the Commission on Elections to audit and examine the automated election system to prove their claim of the existence of a “fourth server” kept secret from the public by the poll body and Smartmatic.
“The truth has to come out – one way or another, this involved the whole electoral process in the country, we will expose the vulnerability of the automated system manipulations,” he added.
De la Cruz asserted that they are filing the election protest because they owe it to those who voted for Marcos and to the entire Filipino people to find out what really happened in the May 2016 elections.
“We believe that we have enough evidence to show that there was massive rigging and manipulation of votes,” he said.
He cited the results of their initial findings which indicated that between 9 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. on May 9, the transmitted election results showed that Marcos lost in 1,689 precincts, many of which were considered bailiwicks of the senator, mostly in the provinces of Leyte, Samar, Pangasinan and other areas in Region II.
