Magnitude-5 quake rocks Davao Region
MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-5 earthquake jolted Davao Region yesterday, with state seismologists warning against possible aftershocks in the area.
The epicenter of the earthquake, classified as relatively strong, was located two kilometers northwest of Governor Generoso town in Davao Oriental, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake, which occurred at 2:40 p.m., was felt across the region, including in Davao City, Kidapawan City in Cotabato and Alabel in Sarangani, where it was recorded at Intensity 3.
Phivolcs said no damage to property was recorded, but aftershocks might occur.
