Leni Robredo reclaims lead in official tally
Philippine House and Senate election tribunal staff prepare the tally board before the official count of votes cast in the May 9 presidential election begins Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Lower House in suburban Quezon city, northeast of Manila, Philippines. The Philippine Congress on Wednesday started the official count, though confirmation of Rodrigo Duterte's apparent victory may be slowed by disputes in the more closely fought vice presidential race.

MANILA, Philippines — Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo on Friday afternoon reclaimed the lead in the partial and official tally for the vice presidential votes.

As of 4 p.m., Robredo has garnered 14,292,271 votes while Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. took the second spot with 14,059,209 votes.

Marcos was leading the partial official tally when the second day of canvassing at the House of Representatives ended on Thursday evening.

Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III said that there is a big possibility that the National Board of Canvassers will be able to finish canvassing for president and vice president by the end of the day.

"If we finish today, proclamation would be on Monday," Pimentel said.

The Marcos camp earlier asked the Commission on Elections to allow his team to conduct an audit on the automated election system. The poll body, however, decided to postpone action on Marcos' request.
