Leni Robredo: Let's wait for the official count

MANILA, Philippines — Camarines Sur Rep. Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo, the vice presidential candidate of the Liberal Party, on Tuesday said she will not yet claim victory despite her lead in unofficial tallies.

At a televised press conference, Robredo said she and her team will wait for the official counts before claiming victory.

"Sana po huminahon tayo. Hintayin natin ang resulta mula sa [Commission on Elections]," Robredo said.

Robredo was at second place behind Sen. Bongbong Marcos when the unofficial tallies from the Commission on Elections transparency servers started transmitting on Monday night. Marcos was on a clear lead before Robredo started catching up past midnight, and eventually overtook to lead the race around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Robredo said the first transmissions came from areas that are known turfs of Marcos, but when votes from Visayas areas sympathetic to Robredo starterd coming in, her lead started to take shape.

"Pumapasok na mga boto mula sa bailiwicks natin—Bicol, Iloilo, ARMM," Robredo said in a post on her Twitter account at 3:20 a.m.

Reacting to accusations that the Liberal Party manipulated the data for facilitate her run, Robredo said it is "unfair" as the claims are not substantiated. She said the current unofficial results, showing her with a lead of almost 200,000 as of Tuesday afternoon, are faithful with pre-election surveys released the past weeks.

Robredo on Tuesday also denied rumors that she is planning to resign under the presidency of Rodrigo Duterte. Robredo's running mate, Manuel "Mar" Roxas II earlier conceded to Duterte, who maintained a wide lead from his rivals in the presidential race.

"Wala akong sinabing kailanman na ganun. May ginawang fake facebook page na ganito ang sinasabi at ako raw ang nagsabi," she said.

She also denied reports that the ruling party has a "plan B," that is to have Duterte impeached.
