Chiz, Trillanes post SALNs on website

Marvin Sy - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Two of five senators running for vice president disclosed their statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) as part of their commitment to provide the electorate with all the information they need in choosing the country’s next leaders in the May 9 elections.

Sens. Francis Escudero and Antonio Trillanes IV were the only two vice presidential candidates who voluntarily released their SALNs to the media.

Like what he did in the past years, Escudero posted his SALN on his website so that this could be accessed anytime by anyone.

Based on his 2015 SALN, which was filed with the Senate Secretary on April 27, Escudero listed his net worth at P5,847,082.09.

Escudero listed five properties under his name: a house in Culiat, Tandang Sora, Quezon City; three lots and a house in Sorsogon City.

Based on the current fair market value of the properties, the total value was pegged at P1.090 million.

Escudero did not list the acquisition costs for these properties because he acquired these by succession.

For his personal properties, Escudero listed his cash on hand at P1.595 million; marketable securities at P213,411.29; a 1995 Range Rover Classic purchased at P1 million; 1969 BMW 2002 purchased at P333,640, and a 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser bought at P1.3 million.

He also listed various jewelry and other personal properties worth P1.405 million.

For his business interests and financial connections, Escudero said he has been a partner at the Escudero Marasigan Valiente and E.H. Villareal Law Offices since 1994.

Escudero listed no liabilities.

For his two children who are both minors, Escudero listed their current house in New Manila as their assets since these are under their names.

They each have P959,193 in cash that are held in trust.

As for the wife of Escudero, actress Heart Evangelista, she listed two condominium units in Makati City and Taguig City purchased at a total cost of P12.4 million. She listed her cash and other personal properties worth P70.5 million as her assets.

In the case of Trillanes, he filed his SALN with the Senate Secretary on April 18 and also posted this on his website.

However, the latest SALN posted on his website is only that of 2014.

Trillanes pegged his net worth at P5.984 million, with his assets valued at P12.169 million and liabilities at P6.184 million.

Together with his wife Arlene, Trillanes listed his total family income at P3.05 million.

For his assets, Trillanes listed a condominium unit in Woodsville, Parañaque City acquired for P3.45 million and three residential lots in General Trias, Cavite; Antipolo, Rizal; and General Santos City acquired for a total of P2.452 million. The General Santos City lot was inherited.

His current residential address in BF Homes, Caloocan City was not included in his assets.

With regard to his personal properties, Trillanes listed his cash on hand at P2.7 million; an investment of P600,000; a Mitsubishi Montero purchased at P1.17 million; a Toyota Fortuner bought for P1.247 million; and jewelry, furniture and antiques worth P550,000.
