LTFRB announces permanent taxi flagdown rate of P30
MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Tuesday morning announced that it is making the P30 flagdown rate for all taxis permanent.
The taxi flagdown rate change exempting Cordillera Administrative Region will take effect on March 19.
Cabs will be mandated to charge P3.50 for every first 500 meters, every succeeding 500 meters and during waiting time for every 90 seconds.
Aside from the regular taxis, LTFRB also announced airport taxis will have permanent P60.00 flag down rate. Its running time rate is P4.00 for every 90 seconds.
The LTFRB announcement comes a year after the board issued a provisional P10-rollback in the flag-down rate of all taxicabs and airport taxis.
LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez said passengers are advised to report those cab drivers who will not comply with the new flag down rate to their hotline.
Meanwhile, taxi calibration is scheduled starting April.
For taxis with plate numbers ending in 4, 9 and 2, the calibration is slated on April while taxi with plate numbers ending in 5, 7 and 0 will be calibrated in May.
The taxi with plate numbers ending in 1, 3, 6, and 8 are scheduled to be calibrated in June.
The LTFRB said it decided to approve the new rates based on the recommendations of the Department of Trade and Industry and National Economic and Development Authority. – with reports of Robertzon Ramirez
