Poe camp denies report on 2 US social security numbers

MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Sen. Grace Poe on Wednesday denied a report that the presidential aspirant had two social security numbers (SSN) when she lived in the United States.

Poe's spokesperson, Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian, said that the report was part of the "ongoing black propaganda" against the presidential bet.

The Daily Tribune reported that Poe committed a US federal felony by obtaining and using a US SSN from a dead person under her name.

Poe allegedly had been listed with two SSNs, one in her name (SSN 538-25-2008) and another from a deceased person (SSN 005-03-1998).

"The details of the news article are without basis and absurd," Gatchalian said in a statement.

Gatchalian explained that the supposed second social security number of Poe, SSN 005-003-1988, was her student identification number when she was a student at Boston College.

The student ID number issued to Poe corresponds to her enrollment date in the college, Gatchalian added.

"There is no reason for Sen. Poe to secure a fake social security number because she has always been of legal status while in the US," Poe's spokesman said.

Poe's camp earlier called on all parties and individuals involved in the disqualification cases filed against the senator to refrain from preempting the decision of the Supreme Court on her case.

The high court is expected to rule on the disqualification case of Poe in the presidential race next week.
