Binay eyes establishment of ‘Malacañang of Mindanao’

MANILA, Philippines – United Nationalist Alliance’s standard bearer Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay on Tuesday expressed his plans to build a Malacañang of Mindanao.

In his speech, Binay said he wants to put up a satellite office in Mindanao because he wants reach out to them and address their concerns. He also vowed that if elected as president, he will experience the true meaning of decentralization.

“Dito ho ako mag-o-opisina sa Mindanao sapagkat babantayan ko na ang mga local governments will experience the true meaning of decentralization and devolution gagawin ko po iyan ‘yung local autonomy,” Binay told his supporters in Pantao Ragat, Lanao del Norte.

Binay said that his priority for Mindanao includes addressing the issues on electricity, security, terrorism, and agriculture in Mindanao, among others. He then lamented that the current administration neglected the problems of Mindanao.

“Itong administrasyon na ito walang inukol na atensyon walang pinakitang pagmamalasakit ditto sa problema ng Mindanao,” Binay said.

The vice president is  also planning to develop the roads and infrastructure in Mindanao as it will enable farmers and entrepreneurs to widen the market for goods and services. He added that he wants to implement measures on peace and security in Mindanao.

“Calamities, hostage-taking, fires, nandoon po ako at kapiling ng aking mamamayan, ‘yan din po ang aking paparamdam sa inyo,” Binay added.

Aside from Mindanao, Binay also wants to put up a satellite office in Cebu.
