Binay, Honasan seek support of religious group
IMUS, CAVITE, Philippines – Vice President Jejomar Binay and Sen. Gregorio Honasan II of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) sought yesterday the support of the members of the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (PMCC).
The UNA tandem, along with senatorial bets Parañaque City councilor Alma Moreno, labor lawyer Allan Montano, broadcaster Rey Langit and former Special Action Force chief Getulio Napeñas, attended the Pentecostal Missionary Church 4th Watch Mega Manila Fellowship here yesterday afternoon.
In his speech, Binay cited the improvements in Makati City, which was started during his term as mayor.
“What I did in Makati, I will do it in the entire Philippines if I become president,” Binay said, drawing applause from an estimated 25,000 church members in the Apostle Arsenio Ferriol Sports Complex here.
Bishop Arturo Ferriol prayed over the UNA candidates to boost their chances of winning in the May polls.
After Imus, the UNA slate proceeded to Dasmariñas City, where they held a motorcade. They were joined by Binay allies Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla, former Bulacan Governor Roberto Pagdanganan and former Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez.
Last Thursday, Binay toured Cavite City, Noveleta and Kawit.
In 2010, Binay beat then Liberal Party vice presidential bet Mar Roxas by around 200,000 votes in Cavite.
Remulla, in a previous interview, assured Binay that Cavite would secure a win for the UNA standard-bearer. Cavite has over 1.84 million registered voters.
If he wins the presidency, Binay said he would appoint Remulla as secretary of the interior and local government.
