Cayetano: Big-time thieves get elected in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines – Vice presidential candidate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday evening lamented the double standards used when prosecuting small-time thieves and those who plunder big time.

During his campaign rally with Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan’s (PDP-Laban) standard bearer Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte in Tondo, Manila, Cayetano discussed selective justice to those who steal food for their hungry families and medicines for their sick family members and to those who steal but get elected into public office.

The crowd then applauded Cayetano’s statement which he explained as applause not because of awe but because he spoke about the truth about corruption.

Cayetano said as part of his agenda to change the country, he seeks to eliminate the smuggling and corruption which roots from the wealthy. - Rosette Adel
