Noy heckler in Hong Kong barred from entering Philippines
MANILA, Philippines - Immigration officials at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) had denied entry to a Hong Kong journalist who heckled President Aquino during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Indonesia in 2013.
Lui Tsz Kin heckled Aquino regarding the Manila hostage crisis in 2010, where eight Hong Kong tourists died.
Lui was included in the immigration blacklist and is barred from entering the country. He reportedly tried to enter on Nov. 16 to cover the APEC meeting here, but was sent back by immigration.
The journalist arrived on board a Cebu Pacific flight from Hong Kong. Sources said many ranking officials tried to convince the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to let Lui in, but were turned down as the foreign journalist was reportedly in the Interpol watchlist.
Immigration associate commissioner Gilbert Repizo said Lui might disrupt the APEC meeting.
Meanwhile, the BI deported an Afghan for trying to sneak in to the Mall of Asia, where the APEC summit was being held on Nov. 18.
Mustafa Moori Ghulam, 29, who arrived in the country on Nov. 15, was deported on Tuesday.
