Cebu Pacific, subsidiary cancel more flights

MANILA, Philippines – Cebu Pacific and subsidiary Cebgo have announced additional flight cancellations during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings.

Cebu Pacific said in a statement yesterday it cancelled another 144 flights for Nov. 16 to 20.

The new flight cancellations are on top of the 262 deferred flights announced by Cebu Pacific earlier.

Cebgo said it also cancelled 16 more flights on Nov. 16 to 20. Earlier, Cebgo said it scrapped 35 flights for the same week.

The flight cancellations are part of preparations for the 2015 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

Meanwhile, the Manila International Airport Authority has advised airlines of periodic temporary runway closures at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) during the arrival and departure of heads of states in the country.

While the flights have been cancelled, both Cebu Pacific and Cebgo are working on reaccommodating affected guests the soonest possible time on the next available flights.

Passengers booked on flights between Nov. 16 and 20 may avail of full refund or travel fund; or rebook their flights for travel within 30 days from original departure date without penalties.

“Our reservation hotlines are currently receiving a high volume of calls. Guests who do not need to urgently travel on the affected dates are advised to call after Nov. 20 (Friday),” Cebu Pacific said.

Those who wish to rebook their flights may proceed to the following ticket offices: NAIA Terminal 3 Sales Office in Pasay City; NAIA Terminal 4 Express Ticket Office in Pasay City; KidZania Manila (rebooking transactions only) in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City; Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas Ave.; Robinsons Place Imus in Cavite; Robinsons Place Manila in Ermita; Cebu Airport Ticket Office in Mactan-Cebu International Airport; and Robinsons Fuente in Cebu City.

Manila is hosting this year’s APEC summit. Leaving nothing to chance, the government has embarked on massive security preparations, including limiting the use of the country’s premier airport.
