MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Eagle "Pamana" was found dead last Sunday just two months after being released into the wild.

The carcass of the three-year-old Philippine eagle was found in San Isidro, Davao Oriental with a gunshot wound, according to a report from ABS-CBN News.

The Philippine Eagle Foundation is yet to identify the person behind the killing of Pamana. The suspect violated the Wildlife Act of 2002.

On June 12, Pamana was released into his new forest home at Mt. Hamiguitan in Davao Oriental to mark the 117th anniversary of Philippine Independence.
